A GRAMMY Award-winning artist, Fortner has collaborated with other great musicians from around the world including Dianne Reeves, Paul Simon, Wynton Marsalis, John Scofield, and Cecile McLorin Salvant among others.

In his solo career, Fortner has garnered prestigious awards—a Leonore Annenberg Arts Fellowship, the 2015 Cole Porter Fellowship from the American Pianists Association, and the 2016 Lincoln Center Award for Emerging Artists.  His primary group, The Sullivan Fortner Trio, has toured and performed at festivals around the world.

Originally from New Orleans, Fortner began playing piano as a child before traveling first to Oberlin Conservatory for his Bachelor of Music and later to Manhattan School of Music for his Master of Music.
